Doreen’s Garden

Former 18th-century vegetable garden, transformed into a French formal garden in the 19th century with perfectly aligned paths lined with ancient box trees, geometric flowerbeds, and a central pond.

This major garden in our park pays tribute to Doreen Bovet, who started the iris and daylily collection and is the mother of the current owner. A passionate gardener, she was responsible for opening the gardens to the public in 1955.

Throughout the seasons, irises, roses, alliums, dahlias, and a tunnel of laburnum line the paths, while contemporary sculptures punctuate the walk and enrich the experience.

The highlight is the 19th-century-style orangery and a central pond surrounded by twelve exotic palm trees, which were already present at the time and have been reintroduced to their original setting.

The tour continues along the old garden wall covered with roses to Mireille Fulpius’ installation, which is in perfect harmony with the surrounding nature.

About the garden

Doreen’s Garden

In the middle, a tunnel covered with laburnum leads to the orange grove, whose design is inspired by 19th-century style. At its center, twelve exotic palm trees surround the pond. Recently planted, they already existed in the castle courtyard in the 19th century.

A hundred-meter-long rose walk runs along the old garden wall, which leads to the area housing Mireille Fulpius’ installation.
