Dorianne’s Garden

A prime location: the Château’s terrace is home to this contemporary garden featuring zigzagging rose beds, created in tribute to the chatelaine Dorianne Bovet, which takes visitors on a 360-degree tour of the Château.

This garden, unique in Switzerland, was created in 2006 on the castle terrace. More than 300 rose bushes were planted there in tribute to Dorianne Bovet, the last chatelaine of the estate. A committed artist, in the late 1990s she initiated a dialogue between historic gardens and contemporary art, a vision that still shapes the estate’s unique identity today.

Its geometric design forms wide yellow and pink bands that seem to float on the lawn.
In recent years, visitors have been able to stroll freely across this terrace, admire the architecture of the château and the spectacular view of Lake Geneva, before continuing their walk through the medieval part of the estate: passing by the old tower of the fortified castle, then descending into the 16th-century vaulted cellars.

A true 360-degree discovery around the château, combining art, history, and landscape.

About the garden

Dorianne’s Garden

Designed to surprise and move, this zigzag garden is one of the major symbols of our gardens—a vibrant tribute to Dorianne, the owner’s wife, artist, and visionary soul of Vullierens, who breathed art into the very soil.
It is here, at the heart of this elegant layout, that we perceive the full sensitivity of the woman who shaped the spirit of every corner of the estate. A free-spirited, creative woman who turned the lands of Vullierens into a permanent dialogue between nature and beauty.
